Technology

How it works, simply.

No jargon, no rip-and-replace. Skyloft is a software layer on the seatback screens an airline already flies — with everything happening on the plane.

Software, not a box

It rides on the screens you already have.

Skyloft doesn't ship hardware. It runs on the wired seatback screen the airline already flies and integrates with the existing IFE — nothing is ripped out, and nothing new has to be certified to fly. A deployment is a software rollout, measured in months rather than years.

Everything on the plane

The content lives on board — and works with no internet.

Each aircraft carries a small server — the edge. Films, games, music and news all live and run there, served locally to every seat. The seatback is wired to it; on a Wi-Fi flight, a phone reaches the same server over the cabin Wi-Fi. The only thing that ever touches the ground is a card payment, and only where the aircraft has connectivity.

On-board server

The edge — holds all the content and serves it locally, on the plane.

No internet needed for content

wired

Wired to the server. No passenger Wi-Fi.

cabin Wi-Fi

Joins the same server over the cabin Wi-Fi.

The content never leaves the aircraft — it plays with no internet. Only card payments reach the ground, where the aircraft has connectivity. The principle holds whatever IFE platform Skyloft integrates with.

Guest-only, private by design

No accounts, no logins, no personal data stored. Access is tied to your seat for the flight, and the session ends when the flight does.

A partner, not a replacement

Skyloft is a software partner for the application layer. We don't replace your IFE vendor, certify avionics or sell boxes — we bring the modern experience and the revenue surface on top of what you already run.

We'll walk your team through the whole stack.
